Gov. Laura Kelly and legislative leaders are gearing up for a statewide initiative to encourage mask use, agreeing Friday to spend $1.5 million on a campaign to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
The State Finance Council agreed to use money from federal coronavirus relief funds to launch a series of public service announcements on television, radio and social media to encourage mask use throughout Kansas.
The public service campaign comes as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to set new records in Kansas and nationally with no signs of abating.
