Kansas Democrats hire new executive director

The Kansas Democratic Party has hired a new executive director with more than a decade of political experience running campaigns across the country in Indiana, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The party has hired Andy Bilyk to replace Ben Meers, who stepped aside in January after a tumultuous term marked by accusations that he bullied employees and fostered a toxic work environment. He started Monday.

Bilyk comes to Kansas from Deliver Strategies, a Washington-based strategic communications and direct mail firm where he was vice president.
