The Kansas Democratic Party on Friday announced it has added a former aide to U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill to its team.

The party said Friday that Brenna Duffy has been hired as the party’s new finance director.

Duffy spent the last five years serving constituents and organizing field events for McCaskill, who lost a bid for a third term in the Senate last fall.

Most recently, Duffy worked as McCaskill’s deputy regional director. She also served as a constituent services representative.

“Fresh off our historic victories in 2018, Brenna is the perfect person to make sure the Party has the resources it needs to run another strong statewide grassroots campaign in 2020,” said the party’s outgoing Executive Director Ethan Corson.

Duffy replaces Josh Wasinger, who has served as finance director since April 2018. Wasinger will now be the party’s new operations director.

Dan Coviello, the former director of operations, will continue to work for the party on a part-time basis to assist with special projects.

A native Kansan, Brenna grew up in Topeka and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kansas State University.

She also received a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Duffy sits on the board and serves as the secretary for the Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund.
