Kansas chief justice’s special counsel to depart

The special counsel to Kansas Chief Justice Marla Luckert is leaving the judicial branch to take a job with the Council of State Governments in Kentucky.

Shawn Jurgensen will leave Sept. 8 after working as the chief justice's special counsel since 2017.

As special counsel, Jurgensen had been the liaison between the judicial branch and the Kansas Legislature.

"Shawn has been a highly valued member of the judicial branch team, and he's done exceptional work representing the interests of our judges and employees before the Legislature," Luckert said in a statement . . .
