Republican state Treasurer-elect Steven Johnson has hired three staffers from outgoing Republican Attorney General Derek Schmidt's office.
In what was arguably the worst kept secret in state government, Johnson hired Deputy Attorney General Jeff Chanay as assistant treasurer and general counsel.
Chanay served for four years as deputy attorney general in Schmidt's civil litigation division.
Before going to work for the state, Chanay was in private practice as a partner in the Topeka law firm of Entz & Chanay.
