House write-in candidate falls short


A Johnson County businessman's vigorous attempt to get on the general election ballot as a write-in candidate came up short Monday when Johnson County certified its primary election results.

Greg Schoofs, a Mission Hills Republican, fell roughly 165 write-in votes short of reaching the 1,029 needed to get on the ballot for House District 25 in the general election.

Schoofs had 864 votes, which is a loose total based on a liberal interpretation of how the name was spelled such as Greg Schoofe, Greg Schoos or Greg Schoots.
