House and Senate negotiators on Wednesday started hammering out a new tax bill that could be the Legislature's last, best hope of getting something passed this year.
House members and senators reached a tentative deal on a new bill that might be less expensive than the one passed earlier in the session but was vetoed by Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly.
It's a complex bill that keeps some of the previous elements, changes some original components and adds new items that were not part of the last piece of legislation.
