House panel tweaks election law ahead of Supreme Court hearing

A House committee on Tuesday tweaked an election law in an effort fix it before it goes before the Kansas Supreme Court next week.

The House elections committee voted to add language to a bill that lays out more specifically what makes it illegal for someone to falsely give the appearance of acting as an election official.

The bill is expected to go to the House floor on the same day that the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the merits of the law.
