The communications director for the House Democratic Caucus will become chief of staff for incoming Minority Leader Tom Sawyer.
Sawyer named Heather Scanlon as his top aide, with Chief of Staff Cory Sheedy leaving to become legislative affairs director for Democratic Gov.-elect Laura Kelly.
Scanlon has served as the communications director in the House for more than two years.
She previously worked as the communications and digital director for the Kansas Democratic Party.
