House fails to override Kelly on two bills

The Kansas House on Thursday failed to round up enough votes to override Gov. Laura Kelly’s vetoes of legislation banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports and a parent’s bill of rights for school children.

The bill of rights legislation came up 12 votes short of the 84 needed for passage. The transgender sports bill - named the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act - also failed to get enough votes to override the governor's veto with 81 votes.
