Candidates running for governor started reporting their fundraising activities for 2025 on Friday, with five candidates either approaching or exceeding $1 million although about half of  that money was personally bankrolled.

The five candidates - former Republican Gov. Jeff Colyer, Republican Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, Republican Secretary of State Scott Schwab, former Republican Wichita school board member Joy Eakins and Democratic state Sen. Ethan Corson - have reported raising a combined $6.5 million.

About $3 million of that money came from the candidates, reports filed with the secretary of state's office show.
