Green Party candidate fails to get on Kansas ballot

State election officials are denying ballot access to Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein in this fall's general election.

Stein submitted about 900 signatures to get on the ballot, well below the 5,000 signatures needed to qualify for the general election.

The state does not recognize the Green Party as an official political party, meaning that Stein would have had to run as an independent.

A New York Times tracker showed that as of Monday, Stein was on the ballot in 18 states including Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana and Arkansas.
