Broadcast spending in the Kansas governor's race is nearing $13 million as the campaign moves into the dog days of summer marked by parades, festivals and holiday events.
The national political ad tracking firm AdImpact reports that Democrats and Republicans have either spent or booked about $12.7 million for ads on network television, cable TV, radio and satellite television such as Dish TV this year through Wednesday.
"Oh good gracious," Washburn political scientist Bob Beatty said when told of the total spending reported by AdImpact.
