Gov. Laura Kelly's education finance plan advanced out of a Senate committee on Wednesday despite opposition from a key school group that initially supported the bill but later changed its mind.
The Senate Select Committee on Education Finance moved the bill out to the full chamber even though it was opposed by Schools for Fair Funding, whose members include school districts suing the state over education funding.
A month ago, the group supported the bill, saying it would end a nearly decadelong lawsuit over school funding . . .
