Governor urges attorney general to quickly approve child care rules

Gov. Laura Kelly is urging Attorney General Kris Kobach to quickly sign off on new rules for child care that are intended to allow providers to watch more children.

The state health department sent the rules to the attorney general on Oct. 9 for his approval before they're sent to a legislative committee for review and ultimately public hearings are held before they're implemented.

There's no indication from the attorney general's office when it will complete its review. The agency said it's evaluating the proposed rules changes, which it says are extensive.
