Gov. Laura Kelly has nominated a retired trial attorney from Wichita to replace Jon Rolph on the Kansas Board of Regents.

The governor's office has sent the name of Pamela Ammar to the Senate for confirmation.

The interim Senate confirmation oversight committee will take up her nomination when the panel convenes next week.

A member of the Wichita State University Foundation, Ammar  began her career as an attorney in 1989 and joined the Morrison & Hecker law firm.

In 1996, she joined Woodard, Blaylock, Hernandez, Roth & Day as a partner and specialized in medical and dental malpractice defense . . .
