Governor announces mask mandate

As the number of coronavirus cases surge, Gov. Laura Kelly on Monday announced that she would be requiring Kansans to wear masks in public spaces.

Following the lead of at least 17 other states that adopted face covering requirements, Kelly said the mask mandate in Kansas would start Friday.

"This doesn't change where you can go or what you can do," Kelly said. "It just means if you're around other people, you must wear a mask."

She said the mask mandate also would apply to the outdoors if social distancing of at least six feet can't be . . .
