Gov. Laura Kelly late Friday appointed former Transportation Secretary Deb Miller to the Kansas Turnpike Authority board.
Miller led the Kansas Department of Transportation from 2003 to 2011, and helped develop the multiyear transportation plan that preceded the one passed most recently by the Kansas Legislature.
Miller is now director of the Public Management Center at the University of Kansas, where she has been since 2019.
Previously, she was a commissioner on the Surface Transportation Board, which regulates various modes of surface transportation, primarily freight rail.
She also was a senior associate at the transportation consulting firm, Cambridge Analytics.
