Former four-term state Rep. Diana Dierks, a longtime real estate broker from Salina who was remembered as an advocate for education, died last weekend. She was 81.
Dierks, one of a handful of moderate Republican lawmakers left in the House, served in the Legislature from 2013 to 2021.
Dierks lost her bid for a fifth term in the House when she lost the Republican primary for House District 71 to current state Rep. Steven Howe.
She had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease in the years preceding her death, her son, Paul Dierks, said.
