After being rejected twice by the Kansas Senate for a seat on the Kansas Court of Appeals in two controversial nominations, federal public defender Carl Folsom III is now going to be a judge in Douglas County.
Gov. Laura Kelly on Friday named Folsom to a seat on the bench in the 7th Judicial District along with Lawrence attorney Catherine Theisen. The 7th District covers Douglas County.
The governor tried twice to put him on the Kansas Court of Appeals, calling him "one of the very best" and "one of the very brightest."
