Evergy seeks regulatory changes to handle economic development

Evergy is asking lawmakers to make changes in the state's regulatory framework in a way that the company can generate revenue to cover the cost of capital investment needed to accommodate economic development.

The company is asking for changes it says will make Kansas more attractive to investors at a time when there is an explosion in economic development and the company needs to put more money into utility infrastructure.

"If we are going to continue to build in front of economic development projects that come here, we have to be able to attract capital from around the United . . .
