EMILY’s List backing historic number of Kansas candidates


EMILY's List is throwing support behind an unprecedented number of female statehouse candidates this year, becoming the third left-leaning national group seeking to end the Republican supermajority in the Legislature.

Already spending $2.6 million to help Democrat Barbara Bollier win the U.S. Senate race, EMILY's List is helping 16 House and Senate candidates - 11 in suburban Johnson County - to end the GOP supermajority in the Legislature.

Democrats need to flip only one seat in the House and three in the Senate to protect Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's veto.
