Adhering to state law, Johnson County election officials have shredded election documents that have been part of Sheriff Calvin Hayden’s voter fraud investigation that has failed to produce any results and has been criticized as "baseless."
Johnson County issued a statement Thursday saying that ballots and accompanying election documents for 2019, 2020 and 2021 have been destroyed.
The county said the documents were shredded - under direction of the secretary of state - in the presence of an appointed bipartisan team of observers, in compliance with Kansas statute, on Feb. 19 and Feb. 21.
