Kansas House Democrats are arguing for more representation on legislative committees after state Rep. Stephanie Clayton switched parties Wednesday.

Clayton's move to the Democratic Party has set off a debate at the Capitol over whether Democrats should get one more seat on House committees.

Democrats believe the committee makeup should reflect the current ratio of Republicans to Democrats after Clayton's switch. House leadership said committee representation should mirror the results of Election Day.
