Democrat Keith Davenport announced Wednesday that he was backing out of running for a seat in the Kansas House in southwest Johnson County after another candidate decided to run for the seat.
Davenport said he would support former Gardner Edgerton School Board member Kristen Schultz, who is trying to get on the ballot next year by petition.
Davenport made his announcement less than 24 hours after the Sunflower State Journal reported on Schultz's candidacy for the House District 43 seat.
