Colyer quizzed on teacher due process rights

As freshman lawmakers went around the room Wednesday peppering Gov. Jeff Colyer with questions during a noon-hour lunch, the discussion turned to teacher due process rights.

As most capitol insiders know, a conservative-leaning Legislature took due process away during an overnight session in 2014 and teachers have been fighting to get it back since.

So, Democratic state Rep. Jerry Stogsdill of Prairie Village put the question directly to Colyer: "Everyone in this room is concerned about K-12 education and how we can attract and retain the very best teachers that we possibly can in the state of . . .
