A broad and potentially influential coalition is forming to push a constitutional amendment that's aimed at ending the legal wrangling over state funding for education.
A new group called the Kansas Coalition for Fair Funding formed Wednesday with the goal of pushing for passage of a constitutional amendment that would need support from Kansas voters and two-thirds of the Legislature.
The new coalition comes as lawmakers grapple with how to meet a state Supreme Court mandate requiring the Legislature to increase funding for elementary and secondary education.
