Claeys leaving attorney general’s office, political consulting role

Republican state Sen. J.R. Claeys on Tuesday said he was leaving his position as a senior adviser to Attorney General Kris Kobach and stepping aside from his position as a political consultant for Axiom Strategies.

Claeys announced his departures without addressing his next step, although it is generally believed he is taking a position with President Donald Trump's administration in the coming weeks. So, his future in the Senate is in doubt.
