Civic groups seek to block ballot signature requirement

A coalition of civic engagement groups is seeking a temporary order blocking a signature matching requirement that was part of an election law passed by the Legislature last year.

The four organizations are asking a state judge to issue a temporary injunction stopping a law that imposes a signature requirement for advanced ballots sent by mail.

The law bars county election officers from accepting an advance voting ballot sent by mail unless they verify that the signature on the envelope matches the signature on file in the county voter . . .
