House Speaker Pro Tem Blake Carpenter has hired a new chief of staff.
Carpenter has hired Michael Archer, a 2024 graduate of the University of Kansas Law School, to replace Alad Aguirre, who left for a job in the private sector.
Archer, who also has a bachelor's in economics from Wichita State, previously served as an intern in the Legislature during the 2024 session.
Carpenter said that Archer, who grew up in Derby, will bring a "fresh perspective and strong legal acumen" to the speaker pro tem's office.
