Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer popped in on a lunch with freshman legislators Monday, cautioning them that the state’s budget will still be tight even as state revenues roll in ahead of projections.

“The budget is looking better, but I’m not prepared to say, ‘Happy days are here.’" Colyer said of the budget. "It’s going to be tight, to be really honest.”

“We are seeing some positive direction overall. I am very confident that we can manage through it in a way that keeps the state solvent and doesn’t impose big tax increases on the community.”
