Former Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback on Wednesday endorsed Secretary of State Scott Schwab for a second term over Republican challenger Mike Brown.
“Safe and secure elections are the foundation of American democracy,” Brownback said in a statement Wednesday morning.
“Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab has demonstrated leadership and commitment to ensuring election integrity in Kansas.
"That is why I am proud to endorse him for re-election."
Schwab is facing a primary challenge from Brown, a former Johnson County commissioner who has been raising questions about the security of Kansas elections.
