Former Johnson County Commissioner Mike Brown on Tuesday officially announced he was running for secretary of state against incumbent Scott Schwab in next year's GOP primary.

Appearing on KCMO radio with conservative radio talk show host Pete Mundo, Brown revealed plans that he's been teasing on Facebook throughout the weekend and was first reported Saturday by the Sunflower State Journal.
