Secretary of State Scott Schwab on Wednesday turned down state Sen. Julia Lynn's request to withdraw from the general election ballot.
The request citing a medical hardship was denied because it was signed by a nurse and not a physician.
"The secretary of state has determined the paperwork submitted to this office does not meet the statutory requirement of a medical doctor’s signature," said the letter to Lynn from the secretary of state.
"As a result, your name will remain on the 2020 General Election candidate list as a Republican candidate for Kansas Senate District 9."
