A self-described "election integrity" advocate who promotes electoral conspiracies online is seeking a recount of the abortion amendment that was decisively defeated.

Melissa Leavitt sought the request before the 5 p.m. Friday deadline, although she had been in conversation with the secretary of state's office since Thursday. It will cost almost $230,000.

It was unclear whether the activist would have the money to pay for the recount, which has been getting national attention.
