Bill targets election consent decrees

A new bill introduced by a conservative think tank is targeting the type of agreements reached last year by Gov. Laura Kelly with civil rights groups to expand the availability of voting and comply with federal election laws.

The bill, backed by the Florida-based Opportunity Solutions Project, would bar the governor, the secretary of state or any other executive branch officer from entering into consent decrees related to the enforcement of election law.
