Attorney general defends opinion opposing JoCo ballot proposal

A lawyer for the Johnson County Commission told a judge that the attorney general was trying to project his sense of proper public policy when he issued an opinion opposing the renewal of a public safety sales tax.

Representing Johnson County, Curt Tideman on Wednesday defended the county's plan to ask voters to renew a quarter-cent sales tax for public safety programs including emergency medical services, mental health intervention, corrections, the sheriff's office,  the district attorney and district court.
