Bouncing back from defeat two years ago in the Kansas governor's race, former Attorney General Derek Schmidt on Tuesday night claimed the Republican nomination for the Kansas 2nd Congressional District.
Schmidt was leading a field that included Jeff Kahrs, a top adviser to outgoing Congressman Jake LaTurner, and former Kansas Livestock Association President Shawn Tiffany. The field also included Michael Ogle of Topeka and Chad Young of Lawrence.
