Former Republican state Sen. Mark Steffen of Hutchinson has changed his loyalties in the Kansas governor's race, switching from former Republican Gov. Jeff Colyer to Johnson County businessman Philip Sarnecki.
Steffen, who served in the Kansas Senate from 2021 to 2025, posted a video on his Facebook page over the weekend endorsing Sarnecki after first endorsing Colyer last summer.
Steffen borrowed from Sarnecki's campaign theme, saying that "career politicians do not work."
"For this election, you're going to have a choice between a successful CEO and a good Christian man or another tired career politician," Steffen said . . .
