A bill giving Attorney General Kris Kobach oversight of class-action lawsuits brought by local governments is moving back through the Legislature after it was vetoed by the governor last year.
The House has already passed the bill, which is similar to one that former Attorney General Derek Schmidt backed in 2020 that would have limited local governments from bringing lawsuits based on contingency-fee arrangements.
The bill passed with 77 votes in the House, seven votes short of overriding a veto with two Republicans and one Democrat . . .
