The first major piece of property tax legislation of 2025 cleared the Kansas Senate on Wednesday when it passed a bill eliminating the state’s 1.5-mill property tax levy that funds maintenance and renovations of some state buildings.
The Senate voted 38-2 to pass the bill, which would replenish the lost revenue from the state general fund at an estimated $81 million in the first year.
