Lawmakers are being urged to remove a budget amendment that critics say would derail efforts to land a $1.2 billion federal grant for a regional hub for producing hydrogen that would reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels.
The House Appropriations Committee is set to consider Thursday a proposal ordering a broad study of the health and environmental effects of wind turbines, power transmission lines, solar panels and so-called "hydrogen hubs."
The amendment allocates $400,000 for the study and bars the state . . .
