Coleman renounces Democratic Party

State Rep. Aaron Coleman abruptly announced late Monday that he was leaving the Democratic Party in the face of an effort to expel him from the House for abusive behavior with young girls and inflammatory comments about the governor.

In an email to Democratic and Republican leadership, Coleman said he was declaring himself as unaffiliated because of efforts to ostracize him from the Legislature by denying him committee assignments, office space and even a phone number at the Capitol.

He said the Democrats refused to notify him of caucus meetings and include him on the Kansas . . .
