Gov. Laura Kelly's judicial screening committee will meet next month to consider 16 candidates seeking a seat on the Kansas Court of Appeals that came open when Melissa Standridge was appointed to the state Supreme Court.
The panel will meet Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 to recommend three candidates to the governor, who will nominate one who must be confirmed by the Senate.
Here is a list of the candidates, many whose names will sound familiar since they have already applied for previous judicial opening.
