The battle over education funding escalated Wednesday when a House panel approved a constitutional amendment giving the Legislature exclusive authority to decide whether Kansas schools are adequately bankrolled.
The House Judiciary Committee voted 12-10 to approve the resolution calling for a constitutional amendment, which is intended to settle years of litigation over how schools are financed.
