House passes bill aimed at fixing legal flaw in Israel boycott law

The Kansas House on Monday passed a bill lawmakers hope will repair a law barring state contractors from boycotting Israel that now faces a constitutional challenge.

The House voted 93-30 to fix a law that a federal judge temporarily blocked in January because it violated the First Amendment rights of a Wichita math teacher.

The bill passed by the House amends the current law so it no longer applies to individuals. It would only apply to contracts worth more than $100,000.
