Republican state Sen. Rick Wilborn on Monday filed for the Kansas House seat now represented by Republican Les Mason, who suffered an aneurysm late last week.
Wilborn filed for the House 73rd District seat that Mason has held since 2014.
Mason, the assistant House majority leader, fell seriously ill last Friday, just three days before the noon filing deadline to run for the Legislature this year.
Wilborn represented McPherson as a member of the Senate and Mason had represented the area as a member of the House.
