Former Republican state Rep. John Whitmer of Wichita has decided against running for the Kansas House after incumbent Republican Brian Bergkamp opted to run for reelection to the Legislature this year.
Last year, Whitmer announced his plans to run for his old District 93 House seat after Bergkamp revealed that he was going to run for the Sedgwick County Commission.
