The Kansas Office of Information Technology Services on Thursday announced Kimberly DeWitt as the state’s first chief data officer.

DeWitt brings years of experience in information technology leadership to her role, including expertise in data analytics, strategy, and project management, the agency said.

She ran unsuccessfully for the Kansas House earlier this year.

Before joining the state, DeWitt founded and led a consulting firm specializing in strategic information technology solutions.
