Speaker bouncing back from procedure

House Speaker Dan Hawkins' office on Thursday released a statement about the procedure he underwent earlier in the week.

"Speaker Hawkins had outpatient surgery on Monday to repair his rotator cuff," said the statement issued by his spokesperson.

"The surgery went well and so has his recovery. He’s already back to working and is looking forward to getting back to his early morning walks."

No other details were available.

The Wichita Republican is in his first term leading the House chamber and his sixth term in the House.
